Drag en drop objects on the canvas with the option to include or exclude existing relations.
AnsweredSo, basically when I drag an object on the canvas that may have relations with other object already on the canvas, I'd like to have the option to determine if these relations should be showed immediately or not.
Default not, would be nice and when choosing for the option to show the relations, perhaps even a relation type picker to include the relations you do want to show.

Yes, that'd be very nice indeed. Sometimes there are 10+ connections that I don't want, it's quite the hassle to get'em all removed again.

I'm not sure i want this, but i can give a tip to remove all the relationship very quickly.
Select the object, ctrl+x (cut), ctrl+v (paste). The object is now on the canvas without relationships

Good one Rob, Thanks!
That I didn't think of it myself!

Arnoud Willemsen Does Rob Korving tip solve your problem?

Hi Kim, Rob's tip doesn't solve the problem, but strictly speaking it is an acceptable work-around in a few cases.
Not for those cases where I do wish to see some specific relations automatically, but not all of them.
You may also take a different approach: drag on the canvas, don't automatically show all the relations, but use the spider web option to pick the relations you want to see (this would be a new feature, I think).
Additionally, perhaps even be able to switch this option on or off, because depending on the complexity of the view you are working on, in case of a low complex view, it may not even be an issue, but an actual want.
So, well there you have some different perspectives on the matter. It appears that one the perspectives that I have suggested here, will not necessarily prevail over the others.
Perhaps other users have more/better suggestions.

And what I have learned from ValueBlue consultants is that a good view doesn't contain more than 3 different objects and its relations, to keep its purpose focused on a limited number of insights.

Okay Arnoud Willemsen I will discuss it in my next feedback meeting. Thank you for your additional information and thought about it! Really helpful.

I have discussed this wish and we have put it on our long-term list. I cannot tell you when we are going to work on this but I suggest keeping an eye on the Release channel!
