This arcile asumes you have followed Install and Configure: Front-end and service.
To configure a data upload to BlueDolphin, you will need to define datasource definitions. A datasource definition will upload the local data to BlueDolphin as a source.
After installing the front-end, you can start the application. The following screen will show:
You can add a new datasource definition by clicking Add:
Please enter a name for the datasource definition. Depending on the template you select, the DataCollection Frontend will help you generate the data connection string. In case you would like to connect to a data source which we do not supply templates for, simply select "None". Using the website connectionstring.com you can connect to other datasources.
After you have clicked OK, the definition will be made and you can edit the properties:
The following table describes the various options for the datasource definition:
|BlueDolphin Target Collection||
This will be the name of the data source in BlueDolphin. It should be unique, otherwise a existing datasource with that name will be overwritten.
|Data Provider||This will show you a list of available data providers on the machine|
|Connection String||This is the connection string to connect to the local data|
|Select Statement||This is the select statement which defines what data will be sent to BlueDolphin|
|Preview||By clicking Preview, you can see the result of the connectionstring and the select statement. Only the first ten (10) rows will be shown.|
You have to fill in a primary key, the data import uses this to automaticaly update the data. Choose an unique value (or combination of values) so that the primary key uniquely identifies the rows in the data.
When you need to make a combination of values as a primary key, please separate the fields using the ";" delimiter:
Example: Name;Business Owner
Please note that field names can contain spaces, but no additional spaces are allowed.
Please also not that field names are case-sensitive
|Empty before update||When on, the data source in BlueDolphin is emptied before uploading the data|
|Should this datasource refresh in the background||When on, the data source will be refresh based on the update interval|
|Update interval||This is the time between updates (in minutes)|
|Start on||This is the date and time on which the interval will start initially|
To save the data source definition, please click Save in the File menu.
Manual upload of data can be forced why using the Synchronization icon (the cloud icon in the upper right corner)
Using the Sources option in the Admin module in BlueDolphin, you can see the uploaded data sources
